About The Position

Wisconsin Behavioral Health is a mission-driven organization expanding access to quality behavioral healthcare. Grounded in evidence-based, recovery-oriented programming, the organization is launching a new Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The Psychiatrist provides psychiatric oversight for the PHP/IOP program, conducting on-site evaluations and medication management one day per week, with availability for phone or telehealth consultation with clinical staff between visits. This role is central to ensuring clients receive comprehensive, medically sound psychiatric care alongside their therapeutic programming.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), with completion of an accredited psychiatric residency.
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Wisconsin, granted by the Medical Examining Board
  • Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
  • Active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances in Wisconsin.
  • Comfort working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a PHP, IOP, or similar outpatient behavioral health setting.
  • Experience treating substance use disorders alongside co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Familiarity with EMR documentation and outpatient psychiatric workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for incoming PHP/IOP clients.
  • Manage medication regimens, including prescribing, adjusting, and monitoring psychotropic medications.
  • Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, and the clinical director on treatment planning and level-of-care decisions.
  • Provide weekly on-site coverage for client visits, with remote availability for urgent consultation between on-site days.
  • Complete timely documentation in the EMR, including progress notes and medication orders.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and case reviews as needed.
  • Supervise or collaborate with psychiatric nurse practitioners or PAs, if applicable to program staffing.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $175 to $250 per hour, commensurate with experience, or a negotiable day rate/contract structure for weekly on-site coverage.
