About The Position

HJ Staffing is seeking a licensed Psychiatrist to provide clinical services and psychiatric care to youth residents, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role includes comprehensive evaluations, clinical guidance, treatment planning, medication management, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team. The position is full-time and contract, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and no mandatory nights or weekends. Services may be provided fully on-site in Waco, Texas, or remotely via telepsychiatry for Texas-based clinicians. Remote clinicians must attend an on-site orientation and credentialing handoff in Waco on their first day.

Requirements

• Hold a valid, unrestricted Texas Medical Board license to practice medicine as an MD or DO.
• Be board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry in Texas.
• Have an active, unrestricted DEA registration certificate.
• Have a valid National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Demonstrate proficiency with computers and Electronic Health Records (EHR) platforms.
• Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and strong presentation abilities.
• Be collaborative and oriented toward teamwork.
• For remote/telepsychiatry coverage, complete the first day on-site in Waco, Texas for orientation and credentialing handoff.

Nice To Haves

• Child and adolescent psychiatry experience or certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnostic workups for adolescent residents.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and provide clinical justification for psychotropic medication regimens.
• Monitor medication efficacy and side effects.
• Maintain timely, compliant, and accurate clinical documentation in the facility’s Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
• Coordinate holistic care in partnership with psychologists, social workers, nursing staff, and direct care teams.
• Manage a clinical caseload efficiently with minimal direct supervision while adhering to institutional and state standards.
• Complete required facility and Texas Health and Human Services Commission background checks, credentialing, and orientation training.
