About The Position

River Edge Behavioral Health is seeking a Psychiatrist, MD to join The Crisis Service and Diagnostic Center in Macon, GA. This role is crucial in diagnosing, treating, and supporting individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, co-occurring conditions, and developmental disabilities. The Psychiatrist will provide direct psychiatric care, including evaluations, medication management, and therapeutic guidance for individuals, groups, and families. The Crisis Service and Diagnostic Center offers tailored assistance and brief stabilization for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities and/or concurrent mental health diagnoses who are experiencing psychiatric symptoms or significant emotional/behavioral changes impacting their functioning.

Requirements

  • Active Physician license granted by the Georgia composite state board of medical examiners and certification in one of the following specialties: general psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of post-licensure psychiatric experience in a multidisciplinary mental health setting.
  • Must pass a satisfactory background clearance and pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct clinical care to individuals who experience symptoms of mental illness, addiction, co-occurring disorders, or developmental disabilities.
  • Prescribes appropriate medication and obtains baseline metabolic indices as indicated and in accordance with all River Edge and professional/state/federal standards.
  • Orders medical assessments, consultations, referrals, medications, and lab tests as indicated for patients.
