About The Position
The Psychiatric Technician/Weekender role at Atrium Health Charlotte Behavioral Health I/P Psychiatric Adolescent 2 East Unit is a part-time, nights position. The technician will observe, report, and document patient behavior changes, interact therapeutically with patients, and assist in social and recreational activities. This role requires the use of CPI techniques, making regular rounds on assigned patients, demonstrating flexibility, and responding to patients with empathy while maintaining dignity and confidentiality. The technician will also participate in unit-based process improvement activities, committees, and complete all mandatory training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Good therapeutic communication skills required.
- CPI certification required within 90 days of hire date.
- BLS required per policy guidelines.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Relevant patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Responsibilities
- Observes, reports, and documents signs and symptoms or changes in patient behavior to charge nurse.
- Interacts with patients therapeutically.
- Assists, initiates, and participates in social and recreational activities, group therapy, patient teaching groups, and other group activities.
- Uses CPI techniques appropriately.
- Makes rounds on assigned patients at least every half hour during shift.
- Demonstrates flexibility in changing workload.
- Responds to patients with empathy, maintaining their dignity and confidentiality.
- Participates in unit-based process improvement activities.
- Participates in unit-based committees.
- Completes all mandatory training as per facility policy.
