Psychiatric Technician/Weekender - Atrium Health Charlotte Behavioral Health I/P Psychiatric Adolescent 2 East Unit PT Days
About The Position
This is a part-time weekend position for a Psychiatric Technician on the Adolescent 2 East Unit at Atrium Health Charlotte Behavioral Health. The role involves observing and reporting patient behavior, interacting therapeutically with patients, assisting in and participating in various patient activities and groups, and ensuring patient safety through CPI techniques. The technician will make regular rounds on assigned patients, demonstrate flexibility in a changing workload, respond with empathy while maintaining patient dignity and confidentiality, and participate in unit improvement activities and committees. All mandatory training must be completed as per facility policy.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Good therapeutic communication skills required.
- CPI certification required within 90 days of hire date.
- BLS required per policy guidelines.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Relevant patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Responsibilities
- Observes, reports, and documents signs and symptoms or changes in patient behavior to charge nurse.
- Interacts with patients therapeutically.
- Assists, initiates, and participates in social and recreational activities, group therapy, patient teaching groups, and other group activities.
- Uses CPI techniques appropriately.
- Makes rounds on assigned patients at least every half hour during shift.
- Demonstrates flexibility in changing workload.
- Responds to patients with empathy, maintaining their dignity and confidentiality.
- Participates in unit-based process improvement activities.
- Participates in unit-based committees.
- Completes all mandatory training as per facility policy.
