Psychiatric Technician (Inpatient - Full Time - 2nd Shift)
About The Position
Waukesha County's Department of Health and Human Services is hiring a Psychiatric Technician for its Mental Health Center, which provides inpatient mental health and substance use treatment and works closely with Waukesha Memorial Hospital and community agencies. This full-time position is on the PM shift, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and involves substantial time providing specialized care to patients. The Mental Health Center’s services emphasize resilience, successful community living, and life satisfaction. Staff partner with consumers and their recovery teams, including families or other chosen supports, and encourage participation and feedback. The team helps consumers lead their recovery by building skills and using available resources, including natural supports, to achieve positive outcomes. Requirements
- High school graduation or GED equivalent.
- Meet one of the following: two years of recognized post-high-school education, including at least two courses in psychology, sociology, or social work; six months of patient care experience in a mental health setting, residential treatment center for people with mental illness or developmental disabilities, or a related area; or completion of two semesters of clinical education as a nursing student in a recognized nursing education program.
- Valid State of Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Waukesha County does not sponsor work visas.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized care to patients in an inpatient mental health and substance use treatment setting.
- Work with consumers and their recovery teams as partners in the recovery process.
- Support consumers in building skills and using available resources to pursue positive recovery outcomes.
- Contribute to consumer participation and feedback in recovery services.
