Psychiatric Technician - Atrium Health Stanly Psychiatric Unit FT Nights
About The Position
This is a full-time night shift position for a Psychiatric Technician at the Atrium Health Stanly Psychiatric Unit. The role involves observing and reporting patient behavior, interacting therapeutically with patients, assisting in and participating in various patient activities, and utilizing CPI techniques. The technician will make regular rounds on assigned patients, demonstrate flexibility in a changing workload, and respond to patients with empathy while maintaining their dignity and confidentiality. Participation in unit-based process improvement and committees is expected, and on-call duties may be required. All mandatory training must be completed as per facility policy.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Good therapeutic communication skills required.
- CPI certification required within 90 days of hire date.
- BLS required per policy guidelines.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Relevant patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Responsibilities
- Observes, reports, and documents signs and symptoms or changes in patient behavior to charge nurse.
- Interacts with patients therapeutically.
- Assists, initiates, and participates in social and recreational activities, group therapy, patient teaching groups, and other group activities.
- Uses CPI techniques appropriately.
- Makes rounds on assigned patients at least every half hour during shift.
- Demonstrates flexibility in changing workload.
- Responds to patients with empathy, maintaining their dignity and confidentiality.
- Participates in unit-based process improvement activities.
- Participates in unit-based committees.
- May include on-call duties as requested by administration.
- All mandatory training as per facility policy.
