About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) for a fast-paced behavioral health unit. The incumbent will play a crucial role in patient care by conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

Current New York State RN License.
CPR Certification from the American Heart Association.
Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a psychiatric setting.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills to interact positively with patients, families, and colleagues.
Ability to manage stressful situations and maintain composure.

Responsibilities

Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and their relatives to gather comprehensive case histories.
Plan and provide nursing care tailored to the needs of patients.
Make nursing diagnoses based on the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend appropriate treatment options.
Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health professionals to design and implement effective treatment plans.
Administer psychotropic medications and document patient reactions and responses.
Coordinate further medical attention when necessary.
Assist clients in understanding emotional disturbances and accepting treatment options.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for both staff and patients.
Monitor and assess vital signs and manage pain treatment effectively.
Document all patient information accurately in medical records, adhering to physician's orders.
Ensure patient confidentiality and maintain high standards of recordkeeping for treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results.
Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, and entering progress notes into the computer system.
Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and the public by responding promptly to requests for assistance or referrals.
