The RN - Psych position involves conducting intake assessments, planning and providing nursing care for patients, and making nursing diagnoses. The role requires consultation with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to develop treatment plans, administration of psychotropic drugs and other medications, and arranging further medical attention when necessary. The nurse will assist clients in understanding their emotional disturbances and accepting treatment, while also maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients. Responsibilities include testing for vital signs of pain, ensuring pain treatments, documenting all patient information on medical charts, following physician's orders, maintaining patient confidentiality, and keeping accurate records of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results. The role also involves administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the computer system, as well as providing courteous, high-quality service to patients and the public.
