About The Position

This position is for a Psychiatric Registered Nurse I at the Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital in Berlin, Vermont. It is an entry-level role ideal for new or soon-to-be Registered Nurses looking to specialize in behavioral health. The role involves assessing, evaluating, and coordinating care for individuals with psychiatric illnesses, who may also have physical, emotional, mental, or psychiatric disabilities. Responsibilities include developing individualized nursing care plans, administering treatments and medications, and collaborating with community health services and families. This position offers a unique opportunity for career development in mental health with additional mentoring and oversight. It is also eligible for full retirement after 20 years of service.

Requirements

  • Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license.
  • In the final semester of an accredited school of nursing program. (Graduation from the program must occur prior to hire and continued employment will be contingent on the employee passing the Nursing Licensure Exam (NCLEX).
  • Must maintain Vermont or multi-state licensure as a Registered Nurse as a condition of employment.
  • Pass a fingerprint supported background investigation.
  • Pass Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment, evaluation, and coordination of care and services to individuals experiencing psychiatric illnesses.

  • Administering prescribed treatments and medications.
