About The Position

Equip is a leading virtual, evidence-based eating disorder treatment program dedicated to ensuring accessible and effective treatment for everyone with an eating disorder. Founded in 2019, Equip operates as a fully virtual company and has been recognized for its innovative approach and positive impact. The Psychiatric Physician Assistant will be responsible for caring for children and adults with eating disorders through a 100% virtual Telehealth platform, working as an integral part of a 5-person virtual treatment team.

Requirements

• Board Certification as a Psychiatric Physician Assistant.
• Maintain an active license to practice in the state(s) that their patients reside and/or be willing to become licensed in other states (paid for by Equip).
• Demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent evidence-based care, advancing clinical skills, and a passion for professional development.
• Communicate effectively with patients and patients carers, and respond to messages within a timely manner.
• Be curious, enjoy learning, and participate enthusiastically in a multidisciplinary team.
• Comfort and experience treating patients with eating disorders, emotion dysregulation, suicidal ideation, substance use, trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personalIty disorders, and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
• Equip uses a HAES and gender affirming approach to care.
• Ability to provide direct patient care, including new patients and follow-up sessions.
• Ability to commit to working until 6 pm two evenings per week (you choose which evenings).
• Ability to attend mandatory meetings (i.e Group Supervision, Treatment Huddles, Labs/All Hands, Individual Supervision, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and ongoing medication management for psychiatrically complex patients with eating disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and consultation to outside psychiatric providers for ongoing treatment with this provider.
• Implement medication treatment plans for individuals with eating disorders and co-occurring conditions in a virtual clinic (i.e. telehealth) setting.
• Evaluate eating disorder-related medical risk within the psychiatric scope of care, including how ED behaviors may affect psychiatric symptoms, medication decisions, safety, and level of care needs.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team of medical providers, dietitians, therapists, patient mentors, and family mentors, along with outside providers.
• Utilize between-session messaging to support patients and communicate with the treatment team through Equip’s EMR in accordance with Equip’s policies and procedures.
• Engage and collaborate in treatment team meetings, supervision, learning opportunities, and department meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
