About The Position

The Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric and behavioral health services to patients from birth through age 21. This position is responsible for psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, ADHD evaluation and treatment, controlled substance prescribing, brief therapeutic interventions, and collaboration with pediatric providers and behavioral health professionals. The provider serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team and supports Anderson Hills Pediatrics’ integrated behavioral health model.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted Ohio Physician Assistant license with NCCPA certification.
  • Current DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances in Ohio.
  • Minimum five (5) years of psychiatric clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience treating pediatric and adolescent patients.
  • Experience diagnosing and managing ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and other common pediatric behavioral health conditions.
  • Knowledge of federal and state prescribing regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, integrated care model.
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of pediatric psychopharmacology.
  • Ability to manage controlled substance prescribing responsibly and safely.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and medications.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple patient needs simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound clinical judgment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
  • Diagnose and manage psychiatric, behavioral, developmental, and emotional disorders in pediatric and adolescent patients.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications, including Schedule II controlled substances, in accordance with federal and Ohio regulations.
  • Evaluate and manage ADHD, including stimulant medication therapy and ongoing monitoring.
  • Provide medication management follow-up visits and treatment adjustments.
  • Deliver brief therapeutic interventions, psychoeducation, and supportive counseling as clinically appropriate.
  • Collaborate with pediatricians, behavioral health therapists, families, schools, specialists, and community resources.
  • Coordinate care for patients with complex medical and behavioral health needs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case review and care planning activities.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely electronic health record documentation.
  • Review laboratory results, screening tools, and diagnostic information relevant to psychiatric treatment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical program development.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, DEA, Ohio licensure requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and departmental operations.
  • Maintains strict compliance with HIPAA, state and federal privacy regulations, and ethical standards while ensuring timely, accurate, and legally appropriate clinical documentation.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the heightened confidentiality and medical-legal significance of behavioral health records, documenting sensitive information objectively and thoroughly, as psychotherapy notes and clinical records may be subject to legal review or court proceedings.
