Requirements
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license valid in the United States.
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner utilizes clinical assessment skills daily to accurately evaluate mental health conditions and develop effective treatment plans.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building therapeutic relationships with patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in psychopharmacology enables the practitioner to safely prescribe and manage medications tailored to individual patient needs.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are applied to adjust treatments based on patient responses and emerging clinical evidence.
- Technological skills support the use of electronic health records and telehealth platforms to enhance patient care accessibility and documentation accuracy.

- Experience working in diverse clinical settings such as inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient clinics, or community mental health centers.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telepsychiatry platforms.

Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments to identify patient needs and formulate diagnoses.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing and managing psychotropic medications.
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling services using evidence-based modalities tailored to patient conditions.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and document clinical findings accurately in medical records.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms.
- Respond promptly to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention when required.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advances in psychiatric nursing practice.
