The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (APRN) provides direct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and medication therapy to assigned clients, and is responsible for their overall management. This includes completing required clinical documentation in a timely manner and meeting the standards of Branford Counseling & Community Services (BCCS), Connecticut Department of Public Health regulations, Connecticut Department of Social Services requirements, and insurance payers. The APRN is also responsible for maintaining and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of areas under their direction and control. The role performs professional duties requiring strong knowledge of psychiatric medication therapy and sound judgment in providing oversight. The APRN reports to the Clinical Director or designee, follows professional standards and organizational procedures and policies, and has no supervisory responsibilities. Work is performed in a moderately quiet administrative office with regular interruptions from the public, including contacts by telephone, in person, and telehealth. The position requires operating a motor vehicle and standard office and clinical-administration equipment. Frequent contact with clients, service providers, Town staff, schools, civic groups, hospitals, nursing homes, doctors, insurers, courts, public agencies, and other organizations requires professionalism and confidentiality. Candidates offered the position must pass a substance abuse test at the Town's expense.
