About The Position

We are looking for a Per Diem Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide weekend rounding and vacation coverage for our Admissions and Unit areas. This role requires commitment to working 2 weekends per month (Saturday & Sunday 8 am - 5 pm) and 2 holidays per year, with potential for weekday coverage as needed with prior notice. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is an integral part of the mental health care team, responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing and treating mental health disorders, prescribing medications, and developing individualized treatment plans. This role involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, meticulous documentation in electronic medical records, and educating patients and families. The position also includes participation in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to all relevant regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Must be a graduate of a Nurse Practitioner Program
  • RN licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner within the state of MA required
  • MCSR and DEA license required
  • Advanced level knowledge and expertise in Medicine and advanced skills in the application of child/adolescent and/or adult medicine
  • Knowledge of current ICD methodology
  • Skills in interpreting and applying standards and regulations applicable to behavioral health inpatient services (e.g. JC, CMS, DMH, DPH)
  • Time management, problem-solving, crisis management, and team-building capacity; flexibility, creativity, and ability to manage stress
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and healthcare technology
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Knowledge of current mental health laws and ethical standards

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a Psychiatry setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments

Benefits

  • Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience. $90.00 - $95.00 per hour
