Florida Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
About The Position
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our outpatient mental health clinic. The PMHNP will provide high-quality psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and collaborative care for a diverse client population across the lifespan (or specify population). This role requires strong clinical judgment, patient-centered communication, and a commitment to reducing stigma and expanding access to mental health care within the community. Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Florida APRN license
- Board Certification as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Current BLS certification (if applicable)
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Use of computer and EMR systems
- Ability to manage emotionally complex clinical situations
Nice To Haves
- Experience with outpatient psychiatric care preferred
- Experience working in community mental health or integrated care
- Familiarity with diverse populations and trauma-informed approaches
- Comfort with Telehealth platforms and EMR systems
- Bilingual abilities preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments
- Diagnose mental health and behavioral health conditions
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and care teams
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications
- Provide medication education and supportive counseling
- Order and interpret labs or diagnostic tests as appropriate
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when necessary
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, and medical providers
- Participate in interdisciplinary case consultations
- Coordinate referrals and continuity of care
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and external providers
- Adhere to clinic policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and client confidentiality
- Support quality improvement initiatives and outcome tracking
- Participate in staff meetings and clinical supervision as required
