About The Position

Backpack Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and clinically strong Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for a part-time, remote telehealth practice serving children, teens, and young adults in Oklahoma. This role offers flexibility for clinicians who want to supplement an existing role, balance family commitments, or expand their telehealth practice, while still being part of a collaborative, integrated care team. Backpack Healthcare is a clinician-led and minority-owned organization focused on providing accessible mental health care.

Requirements

Active, unrestricted Oklahoma PMHNP license
PMHNP-BC board certification
Active DEA license
Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program
Experience with—or a strong interest in—working with children, adolescents, and families
Comfort working independently in a telehealth environment
Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and genuine empathy
Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability is required.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive psychiatric care to children, teens, and young adults through telehealth.
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop diagnostic formulations.
Create individualized treatment plans in partnership with patients and families.
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring effectiveness, safety, and clinical progress.
Provide brief supportive interventions and psychoeducation alongside medication management.
Collaborate with therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators through regular case consultation.
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the EHR.
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
