As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, you will contribute to providing essential mental health care to patients across the lifespan. This role involves routine access to individually identifiable health information on a need-to-know basis. Requirements

A passion for helping patients.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a specialization in psychiatric-mental health nursing from an accredited graduate program.
Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) licensure in New Jersey
Registered Nurse (RN) in New Jersey
National certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) through a recognized certifying body (e.g., ANCC, AANP).
Clinical experience in psychiatric-mental health nursing.
Collaborative agreement with a licensed physician or psychiatrist in New Jersey.
Maintain national certification and state licensure by completing continuing education requirements.
Knowledge of minority cultures and their health and nutrition issues and needs.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Basic Certified Life Support is required.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to assess patients' mental health status, including medical history, psychosocial factors, and current symptoms, and make differential diagnoses.
Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare providers, which may include prescribing medications, providing psychotherapy, or recommending other therapeutic interventions.
Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications for effectiveness and side effects, adjusting regimens as necessary.
Provide evidence-based psychotherapy, such as CBT, DBT, or supportive therapy.
Assess and intervene in psychiatric crises, such as suicidal ideation, psychosis, or acute agitation, using appropriate crisis management techniques.
Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, coping skills, and wellness strategies.
Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
Advocate for patients' rights and access to mental health services, working to reduce stigma and promote mental health awareness.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
Stay abreast of current developments in psychiatric mental health practice through continuing education and professional development.
Adhere to ethical principles and standards of practice, including maintaining confidentiality and respecting patient autonomy.
Contribute to research projects and quality improvement initiatives.
