About The Position

Requirements

Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
Active and unrestricted New Jersey State Nurse Practitioner license
Strong clinical foundation in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and psychopharmacology
Ability to work effectively within hospital and outpatient treatment environments
Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and documentation skills
Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care

Nice To Haves

Experience in hospital psychiatry, behavioral health, consult-liaison psychiatry, or outpatient psychiatric practice
Experience working with adult and geriatric populations
Familiarity with medically complex patient populations and integrated care models

Experience managing patients across varying levels of psychiatric acuity

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and ongoing psychiatric follow-up visits
Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, cognitive disorders, behavioral disturbances, substance-related conditions, and chronic mental illness
Provide medication management, including initiation, adjustment, monitoring, and optimization of psychotropic medications
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and patient care conferences
Manage psychiatric care for both hospitalized patients and individuals receiving ongoing outpatient treatment
Perform risk assessments, crisis evaluations, and stabilization planning when clinically appropriate
Coordinate continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient settings to support successful treatment outcomes
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
Educate patients and family members regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and available support resources
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within electronic medical record systems
Support quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based psychiatric care practices
Contribute to a patient-centered culture focused on clinical excellence, safety, and positive outcomes
