About The Position

Backpack Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and clinically strong Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for a part-time, remote telehealth practice serving children, teens, and young adults in Maryland. This role offers flexibility for clinicians to supplement existing work, balance personal commitments, or expand their telehealth practice, while ensuring meaningful clinical work through collaboration and support. The PMHNP will be part of an integrated care team, working alongside therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators to support children and families. The position emphasizes evidence-based, family-centered treatment and requires availability during afternoons, evenings, and weekends when families are most accessible.

Requirements

Active, unrestricted Maryland PMHNP license.
PMHNP-BC board certification.
Active DEA license.
Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program.
Experience with—or a strong interest in—working with children, adolescents, and families.
Comfort working independently in a telehealth environment.
Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and genuine empathy.
Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability is required.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive psychiatric care to children, teens, and young adults through telehealth.
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop diagnostic formulations.
Create individualized treatment plans in partnership with patients and families.
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring effectiveness, safety, and clinical progress.
Provide brief supportive interventions and psychoeducation alongside medication management.
Collaborate with therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators through regular case consultation.
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the EHR.
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
