About The Position

Backpack Healthcare is growing its Maryland clinical team and is looking for a compassionate, clinically strong Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who desires the flexibility of part-time telehealth practice while benefiting from collaboration and support. Backpack Healthcare offers accessible mental health care to children, teens, and young adults via telehealth. As a clinician-led and minority-owned organization, their PMHNPs are part of an integrated care team, working alongside therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators to support children and families. This role is ideal for those looking to supplement an existing role, balance family commitments, or expand their telehealth practice, offering flexibility and meaningful clinical work.

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Maryland PMHNP license (multi-state or compact licensure preferred).
• PMHNP-BC board certification.
• Active DEA license.
• Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program.
• Experience with or strong interest in working with children, adolescents, and families.
• Comfort working independently in a telehealth environment.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and genuine empathy.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric care to children, teens, and young adults through telehealth, focusing on evidence-based, family-centered treatment.
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop diagnostic formulations.
• Create individualized treatment plans in partnership with patients and families.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring effectiveness, safety, and clinical progress.
• Provide brief supportive interventions and psychoeducation alongside medication management.
• Collaborate with therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators through regular case consultation.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the EHR.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
