Job Summary Responsible for the overall management and leadership of The Mollie Woods Psychiatric Hospital, including oversight of administrative, clinical, fiscal and program operations. Manages personnel, and directly supervises senior-level management staff. Participates in quality assurance and risk management activities. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with referral sources; participates in marketing activities and community engagement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a recognized behavioral science, nonprofit leadership, population health, or human services field is required.
  • Three to five years’ experience in senior administrative leadership role in psychiatric hospital setting.
  • Extensive understanding of behavioral systems, psychiatric treatment standards, and State/Federal regulations, specifically JCHO Accreditation requirements and hospital billing procedures.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, be agile, physically restrain, bend, squat, stretch, reach, push up and stand for several hours at a time.
  • Must possess a current/valid Driver’s License, an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as mandated by Woods’ insurance company, and successfully complete SMITH driver training.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes first line leadership responsibility and accountability for managing the delivery of patient care and ensures that the clinical needs of patients are met.
  • Oversees the daily clinical operations according to the mission, strategic plan, policies of the hospital with ability to develop long range plans, goals, manage budgets, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Orients, supervises, and evaluates care professionals and support staff.
  • Responsible for the annual employee evaluation process including effective training, development, and continuous upskilling of staff.
  • Designs, manages, and reports upon the implementation and operation of programming, including the following operational responsibilities: policies and procedures, staffing models, and administration in accordance with client needs, applicable regulations, accreditation standards, guidelines, and organizational objectives.
  • Works closely with the Clinical team on the development and implementation of program milieu and service provision as well as staff training, development, continuous upskilling, and efficacy.
  • Oversees quality assurance and incident/risk management, regulatory and ethical compliance, licensing, and accreditation activities with the ability to navigate complex high risks scenarios and enforce scenarios that prioritize patient and staff safety.
  • Performs program evaluation and program development activities, including data analysis, report writing, dissemination of results, and providing leadership for new program initiatives.
  • Participates in processes related to admissions & discharges, referral development, and marketing activities. Coordinates the development of and supervises admissions and discharge protocols and determines bundling of services.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of referral development (including off-site visitation and/or consultation), community relations, and media relations activities in collaboration with community partners, like Woods Services.
  • Maintains effective communication and working relationships with Woods’ administration and all Woods’ Programs and Departments, as relevant.
  • Provides other services related to organizational and programmatic needs as needed in consultation with the Board of Managers.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled administrative/management meetings.
  • Promotes a culture of safety and quality by ensuring continuity and consistency in the implementation of established standards, protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures that Quality initiatives are integrated into the hospital and partner with Quality to identify any action plans.
  • Communicates effectively with people who serve family, and other staff and support systems; demonstrates skillful oral and written communication skills and leadership skills with sensitivity, depth, and professionalism.
  • Facilitates active involvement of people served and their family/support systems in the service delivery process. Demonstrates that every interaction with the person, family, and staff is a teaching/learning opportunity
  • Demonstrates understanding of and facilitates developmental/life transitions.
  • Develops relationships with community resources and seek to integrate people served in participation in roles in the community.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and oral and written communication skills.
