About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position requires a commitment to patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, and medication administration.

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
A minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A strong commitment to patient confidentiality.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

Experience in telemetry is desirable.

Responsibilities

Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and their families to gather comprehensive case histories.
Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans for patients.
Make nursing diagnoses concerning the medical and emotional status of patients, recommending appropriate treatment options.
Collaborate with psychiatrists and other behavioral health professionals to design and modify treatment plans.
Administer psychotropic medications and monitor patients for reactions and side effects.
Facilitate medical attention when additional care is required.
Assist clients in understanding their emotional disturbances and guide them towards acceptance of the treatment process.
Ensure a safe and secure environment for both staff and patients.
Assess vital signs, manage pain, and ensure effective treatment protocols are followed.
Document all patient information accurately in medical records, adhering to physician orders and confidentiality standards.
Maintain comprehensive records of patient treatments, immunizations, and lab results.
Perform administrative tasks including filing, answering calls, typing, and completing digital progress notes.
Provide high-quality customer service to patients and the public, addressing inquiries or directing them appropriately.
