About The Position

The Ohio Veterans Homes, part of the Ohio Department of Veterans Services, are trauma-informed care long-term care facilities focused on providing excellent care to Ohio’s Veterans. The Veteran Homes provide direct nursing home care at facilities in Sandusky and Georgetown as well as domiciliary living to qualified veterans in Sandusky. Requirements

  • Current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code.
  • 36 months of experience in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Completion of undergraduate core program in nursing.
  • 18 months of training or 18 months of experience in supervision.
  • 18 months of training or 18 months of experience in management.
  • 12 months of training or 12 months of experience in counseling.
  • 12 months of training or 12 months of experience in public relations.

  • New hires agree to participate in the State of Ohio Direct Deposit of Paycheck Program per Section 124.151(B) of the Ohio Revised Code.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development, implementation & monitoring of quality assurance programs.
  • Development & implementation of nursing policies & procedures.
  • Serves as liaison between nursing/medical services & other disciplines.
  • Assumes leadership of nursing personnel (RN, LPN, STNAs & support personnel) on designated nursing unit.
  • Prepares for on-site clinical & operational audits & annual surveys.
  • Assisting with development & monitoring of quality improvement projects & clinical metrics.
  • Develops, implements, & evaluates the agency’s Wound Care Program.
  • Acts as resource person to department heads/supervisors and the agency.
  • Leads the investigating, tracking, & reporting sentinel events & adverse events.
  • All other duties as assigned.
