About The Position

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking an outpatient Psychiatric ARNP to provide psychiatric services to clients in their outpatient Behavioral Health sites and medical clinics. Clients in the Behavioral Health Program will have access to counseling and case management in addition to psychiatric services. Clients seen at medical clinics will be for evaluation and medication follow-up, not counseling. The Psychiatric ARNP will be part of a care team, working collaboratively with staff to provide team-based coordinated care.

Requirements

  • Licensed RN in the State of Washington.
  • Licensed as a psychiatric nurse (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner).
  • More than five years of experience providing psychiatric services.
  • Must be bi-cultural.
  • Must be bilingual Spanish/English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak efficiently before clients or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Must have TB test annually.
  • Must sign an oath of permanent confidentiality covering all patient-related information.
  • Must receive a background check from DSHS and Washington State Patrol.
  • Must comply with all ethical standards of Sea Mar and those required by DOH (Washington State Department of Health).
  • Shall have no history or evidence of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three (3) years immediately prior to the date of employment at the facility, and no misuse of alcohol or other drugs while employed at this center.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience working with Hispanics, migrant and seasonal farm workers and homeless individuals preferred.
  • Interest and flexibility in a variety of person care situations: family care, youth, and adult.
  • Prefer certification as minority Mental Health Specialist as prescribed by WAC.

Responsibilities

  • Perform face-to-face psychiatric evaluations with clients/patients to determine psychiatric diagnosis.
  • Conduct ongoing medication review services to assess the effects of prescribed medication.
  • Consult with Behavioral Health clinical staff and Sea Mar medical clinic providers to review cases and provide recommendations about diagnosis, medications, and other treatment considerations.
  • Provide phone availability for emergency review of medications and their effects, or for refilling prescriptions.
  • Offer phone consultation with Sea Mar physicians for initial medication prescriptions until clients can be seen for a face-to-face psychiatric/medication review.
  • Maintain chart documentation, including written notes of psychiatric evaluations, medication reviews, and client contacts.
  • Maintain a Psychiatric Medication Chart, make copies of all prescriptions, and obtain all necessary medication consent signatures from each client.
  • Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development over the life span and identifying age-specific needs.
