About The Position

Davis Behavioral Health (DBH) is seeking Psych Tech candidates to join the clinical teams at the Crisis Recovery Unit (CRU), an adult residential mental health facility, and the Davis County Receiving Center (RC), a short-term crisis resolution center. Psych Techs are front-line support staff who work directly with clients experiencing behavioral health crises. They engage with clients individually, manage the milieu, attend to client needs, provide supervision, de-escalate crisis situations, coordinate with other service providers, and maintain a positive recovery environment. Active engagement with clients is a minimum expectation for Psych Techs in all DBH programs.

Requirements

  • High school graduation and one year of full-time employment in a related clerical field.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Must provide a valid sample for pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested by DBH Human Resources.
  • Must comply with Federal drug laws, including no use of medical marijuana.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working as a psych tech or in the social work industry is strongly preferred.
  • Microsoft Word and Outlook knowledge preferred.
  • Typing a net of 35-40 wpm preferred but not mandatory.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Regulate emotion, manage impulsivity, and assist clients in learning other skills that will increase their success in their home and community.
  • Manage milieu on the unit.
  • Take crisis calls.
  • Facilitate skills development groups.
  • Assist professional staff in group activities.
  • Assist clients in accomplishing treatment objectives as outlined by clinical staff.
  • Record behaviors and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with developed programs and individual treatment plans.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, family, and professional staff.
  • Provide monitoring of client's behaviors and consequences for clients as needed.
  • Provide supervision and structure for clients on site as well as off unit.
  • Drive a 15-passenger van and transport clients to meetings and approved off-unit activities.
  • Complete other duties as needed and assigned.
