About The Position

The primary purpose of this role is to develop, implement, and audit Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, policies, and procedures for Tallgrass Energy pipeline operations. This position involves facilitating the process hazards assessment process, providing site lead support for hazard review investigations, and managing the PSM process across pipeline operations, E&C, and corporate teams. The role also includes assessing Engineering and Construction projects to ensure compliance and effective communication from the design phase through the project lifecycle, preparing sites for internal and corporate safety inspections, and identifying/assessing risk reduction strategies. Additionally, the PSM Coordinator/Manager will train and mentor teams on new procedures, audit compliance, conduct safety training, and serve as a Subject Matter Expert on safety matters. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, clear communication, dependable attendance, and a commitment to safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Occupational Safety, Business, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, applying principles and practices of risk assessment, safety engineering, and hazard management.
  • Previous experience in technical safety, systems safety, and process safety tools/techniques.
  • Good working knowledge of OSHA PSM regulations.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, presentation and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Ability to implement and continuously improve processes in a changing environment.
  • Self-motivated and results driven.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the process hazards assessment process.
  • Provide site lead support to the hazard review investigation process for incidents.
  • Manage and facilitate the PSM process, including pipeline operations, E&C, and corporate teams.
  • Assess Engineering and Construction projects, working closely with Operations and Project Managers to ensure effective communication and planning from conceptual design through the project life, ensuring compliance requirements are met.
  • Prepare site projects for internal and corporate Process Safety inspections.
  • Identify, assess, and document risk reduction and control strategies for significant hazards and planning, organizing, facilitating lead assessment and control activities.
  • Train and mentor Operations, Engineering, and Construction teams on new and/or modified procedures.
  • Audit and enforce compliance procedures and processes.
  • Conduct safety training programs for employees and contractors as needed.
  • Serve as an advisory member and Subject Matter Expert on safety-related matters.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
