About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Sleep Center Director and Sleep Center Medical Director, the PSG Technologist Non Registered will perform hook-up and diagnostic procedures related to patient care in accordance with the Sleep Center Policy and Procedure manual. The role also involves assisting with clerical duties such as admitting, filing, record keeping, and cleaning. The technologist is required to earn and retain BLS CPR certification and perform adequate NPSGs/MSLTs/MWTs. Maintaining yearly Continuing Education Credits as required by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) is also a must. A-STEP certification in Polysomnography is a mandatory requirement and the sole responsibility of the individual technologist. Failure to complete ASTEP modules will result in counseling and a timeframe for completion. The employee has two ASTEP exam attempts within the first 6 months of eligibility to achieve certification; failure to do so will lead to termination.

Requirements

  • Earn and retain BLS CPR certification
  • Maintain the yearly requirement of Continuing Education Credits as deemed necessary by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM)
  • Complete A-STEP certification in Polysomnography, including passing the ASTEP exam within two attempts in the first 6 months of eligibility

  • Conscientiously and continuously applies polysomnographic technologist principles in patient care
  • Participates in performance improvement activities
  • Administers sleep studies as ordered by sleep staff physician
  • Functions as a clinical preceptor as necessary
  • Performs patient care, and operational duties as assigned
