Proton Radiation Therapist - Second Shift

University of Arkansas System•Little Rock, AR
•Onsite

About The Position

The Proton Radiation Therapist performs proton therapy procedures and is responsible for patient preparation, immobilization, alignment, image-guidance interpretation, and beam delivery as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. The role requires careful and accurate review of x-ray images, prompt communication of discrepant findings, and an understanding of proton machine operation and particle therapy principles. The therapist works alongside an on-site engineering team provided by the device vendor and helps manage system downtime, which may require extended or make-up hours. Duties also include CT simulations and QACTs appropriate for proton treatment and dose assessment. Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Operations Director, the therapist performs radiation therapy procedures, dose calculations, and chart and routine consistency checks on the treatment machine and simulator. Work is performed five days a week and may involve overtime, photon cross-coverage, and callback as required by the center. On-site training can be provided upon hire. The position may require schedule flexibility because system downtime can extend or reschedule the treatment day to ensure patients receive treatment.
