Protocol Engineering Lead

Cielo ProjectsNew York, NY

About The Position

Quant is seeking a Protocol Engineering Lead to manage the production deployment and ongoing maintenance of their protocol work, including permissioned EVM, rollup architecture, and contracts for issuing and settling regulated money. This role involves owning the release process from development to deployment, coordinating external audits and remediation, and making decisions about upstream code integration. A significant part of the job will also involve explaining complex chain behavior to non-protocol engineers, including reliability engineers, security engineers, and bank representatives.

Requirements

  • Deep Solidity and EVM experience, specifically with contracts that held real value and underwent external audit.
  • Real understanding of rollup architecture, focusing on the mechanics rather than just the vocabulary.
  • Experience maintaining a fork of a large upstream codebase and understanding the long-term costs.
  • Ability to explain chain behavior to reliability engineers, security engineers, and bank representatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with permissioned or enterprise EVM deployments.
  • Experience with settlement, payments, or tokenization, rather than consumer applications.
  • Public contributions to relevant projects.

Responsibilities

  • Own the release train from written code to audited and deployed production systems.
  • Coordinate external audits for every release and manage the remediation process.
  • Make decisions about integrating upstream code, what to hold, and where to diverge.
  • Explain chain behavior to reliability engineers, security engineers, and bank representatives.
