About The Position

The Protective Services Specialist is primarily responsible for ensuring the protection and safety of employees, bank facilities, and assets with added supervisor responsibilities. This role involves monitoring and controlling access, identifying and documenting visitors, monitoring surveillance systems, and responding to incidents. The specialist also assists contract security guards and trains them on desk duties. They are expected to maintain a balanced relationship with employees, be welcoming and approachable, and prioritize the safety of employees. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Greater than 2 years’ experience in a security protection setting (Military, law enforcement or Security / Protective Services).
  • Knowledge in physical security, access control and site protection preferred.
  • Persistence when faced with obstacles and incidents.
  • Dependable, reliable, and responsible candidate.
  • Ability to keep composure in any circumstance during difficult / stressful situations.
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and properly identify visitors.
  • Must be able to exert, lift, carry up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to twenty pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, reach, kneel, stand, and sit for up to 8 hours in a shift.
  • Must be able to climb at least 3 flights of stairs occasionally in an 8-hour shift.
  • Must be able to actively respond to emergency and non-emergency-related incidents per 8-hour shift.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of all tasks and challenges encountered in the operation of their assigned position.
  • Ensure the protection and safety of employees, bank facilities, and assets.
  • Assist contract Security Guards with specific questions/issues, keeping up with paperwork and other tasks designated by the Corporate Security Protective Services Manager, as guard supervisor.
  • Monitor and control the access and egress of all individuals entering and exiting the facility main entrance doors.
  • Identify, document, and retain records for all visitors, vendors, and service personnel following the bank’s Visitor Procedures.
  • Notify the appropriate department personnel of visitor arrivals and arrange security guard escort when necessary.
  • Monitor all activity around the post to ensure employees and visitors remain safe by viewing the surveillance system continually throughout the day to ensure all cameras are functioning properly and to detect suspicious persons/activity on property.
  • Contact local law enforcement / 911 for incidents rendering immediate attention.
  • Train contract guards on desk duties for coverage when absent or away from the desk.
  • Complete and submit Corporate Security Incident Reports as required for incidents / issues that may arise and warrant documentation.
  • Maintain no-trespass orders for assigned location.
  • Ensure proper guidance and compliance with South State Bank’s Code of Ethics and other operating policies and procedures.
  • Dress in professional attire and always display your South State Bank badge when on campus.
  • Maintain a balanced relationship with employees that is welcoming and approachable.
  • Accept other duties as assigned by the Protective Services Manager.
