About The Position

This position is for a Protective Research Analyst within the Crisis Response Team. The role involves analyzing threats and providing research support. The position is for a 12-month period with 8 hours per day. Applicants must ensure they have read the job description and attached required documents. The role requires passing a comprehensive background investigation and obtaining necessary security clearances. The analyst must also obtain and maintain current certifications in threat assessment methodologies and be eligible for a Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN) account.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or other equivalent (General Educational Development [GED], foreign equivalency, etc.).
  • An earned bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Intelligence Analysis, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience as an analyst or researcher within the law enforcement, protective intelligence, military intelligence, criminal intelligence or other related discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of open-source research techniques and strategies as it relates to school safety, and behavioral and digital threat assessment.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to write reports, and communicate effectively under deadlines and stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and statistical techniques and standards of practice.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, data visualization (Power BI/Looker Studio), and GIS mapping.
  • Knowledge of open-source intelligence (OSINT) research tools and social media monitoring for threat identification and school safety.
  • Pass a comprehensive background investigation and obtain/maintain necessary security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to apply for and obtain a Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN) account and maintain active account status.

Nice To Haves

  • An earned master’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Formal training or education relating to general analysis, crime or security incident analysis, cyber-crime investigation or other open-source research disciplines.
  • Experience using criminal justice information systems and other complex relational databases.
  • Familiarity with mandatory criminal justice compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Background working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) crime mapping software.
  • Experience applying structured analytic techniques (e.g., Analysis of Competing Hypotheses, Red Teaming) to protective intelligence or threat assessment case work.
