About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, ID is hiring a Protection Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. This position will be scheduled for 36 hours per week working overnights: Thursday-Saturday 7pm-7am. The role involves maintaining a secured environment during emergencies, interacting with the public regarding safety and security issues, confronting strangers and directing them or escorting them off campus, conducting package inspections, reporting hazards, checking employee and service personnel IDs, and potentially physically restraining individuals in combative situations. The officer will also operate motor vehicles, two-way radios, cameras, and electronic surveillance equipment, and demonstrate basic computer skills.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
Must have active driving privileges.
If, during the course of employment, driving privileges change or colleague receives a driving citation, the colleague is required to notify their supervisor and/or HR.

Nice To Haves

Previous security or military experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Maintain a secured environment in disasters, fires and/or bomb threats.
Interact daily with public regarding safety, visitor control, thefts, and any security problems that might arise.
Confront strangers and either directs them to the proper area or escorts them off the medical center campus.
Conducts package inspection and checks property leaving the facility for proper authorization.
Reports vulnerable situations, hazards, and/or equipment malfunctions to the proper department or persons for corrective action.
Checks employee and service personnel for proper I.D.
Physically restrain a person with the amount of force necessary for the protection of all persons involved in a combative situation.
Operates motor vehicle, two-way radio, camera, and electronic surveillance equipment.
Demonstrates basic computer skills.
