Protection and Control Engineer
About The Position
ECLARO is looking for a Protection and Control Engineer for our client in White Plains, NY. The client is America's largest state power organization and a national leader in energy efficiency and clean energy technology. The Protection and Control Engineer will perform system disturbance analysis, develop design solutions for the client's protection and control and associated communication systems, and recommend protective relaying system modifications and/or additions. This role will assure adherence to applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards to maintain and operate client assets. This role will support the current qualified resource gap in protection and control engineering.
Requirements
- Proficient in the engineering and design of Protection and Control Systems specific to the electric utility industry.
- Working knowledge of protective relaying systems and their various components.
- Familiarity with developing relay settings and understanding of calculations.
- Familiarity with programming microprocessor-based protective relays.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
Responsibilities
- Perform system disturbance analysis and recommend protective relaying system modification and / or additions, if required.
- Perform engineering design for protection and control and associated communication systems.
- Perform short circuit studies and other calculations as required to establish relay settings.
- Perform NERC / NPCC compliance related tasks.
- Provide site support during project commissioning or disturbance investigation.
