Senior Protection & Controls Engineers play a leading role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance of NYPA’s transmission and generation systems. As technical authorities in protective relaying, system disturbance analysis, and NERC/NPCC compliance, they oversee advanced engineering work, provide professional guidance, review and approve design packages, and mentor developing staff. Their leadership directly supports NYPA’s grid modernization, asset management, and reliability strategies. Senior P&C Engineers may contribute to flagship NYPA initiatives – such as transmission corridor rebuilds, high‑voltage substation modernization, renewable project protection studies, and statewide grid resiliency enhancements – all vital to delivering clean, dependable energy for New Yorkers. Due to the high degree of technical and regulatory responsibility, a New York State PE license is required.
