About The Position

KBR is seeking a Protected Satellite Communication System Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support of Combat Forces Command located on Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO. An active TS/SCI clearance is MANDATORY, which is something only a U.S. citizen can obtain. A strong candidate has a comprehensive knowledge of Protected satellite communications systems, satellite transmissions, management, satellite system control, and operational procedures. In this position, you will: Key Responsibilities: Provide technical operational expertise for resolution of operational issues/problems related to space, ground and terminal segments. Document and communicate recommendations for HQ CFC policy positions related to the acquisition, fielding, and sustainment of new and emerging space and ground systems. Provide technical coordination for international working groups, including briefing and action‑item control, and sustained coordination with USSF, Program Management Support, Delta 8, International Partner AEHF Support Center (IPASC) and allied partners. Provide requirements, operations, and sustainment technical analysis and support. Support development and verification of test and system acceptance requirements. Support Deltas with both immediate and deliberate operational requirements. Facilitate external and internal project stakeholder engagements focused on achieving program goals and objectives. Provide the customer rapid responses to taskings and prepare customized and professional products. Travel may be required (~1-3 trips per year for ~5 days each) to support key stakeholder events, exercises, and technical interchange meetings.

Requirements

  • Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance; U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite for this requirement.
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited institution.
  • 5 plus years of Protected SATCOM experience: Protected Consolidated SATCOM System Expert (C-SSE), 4 SOPS, 148 SOPS, Protected SATCOM Watch Office, or Regional SATCOM Support Center (RSSC).
  • Experience with Strategic MILSATCOM systems and platforms (e.g. AEHF, Milstar, EPS, ESS).
  • Able to develop strategies in response to identified program risk and acquisition deficiencies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate analysis and propose program strategies for the customer and across a diverse stakeholder community to enhance mission operations.
  • Ability to interpret a broad range of DoD, USSF, and Joint Directives, Instructions, and Orders supporting the customer in implementation of existing program goals and with objectives and guidance on future systems.
  • Experience in developing and managing Plans of Action and Milestones, integrated master schedules, and related processes to achieve system acceptance milestones.
  • Experience with Action Officer roles and responsibilities and standard HQ staffing processes (e.g., TMT, Staff Summary Sheets, Comment Resolution Matrix).
  • Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel).
  • Ability to identify and resolve challenges in a high-tempo, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Accustomed to professionally interacting with General/Flag officers and senior civilian personnel.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deliverables with minimal guidance.
  • Must be willing and able to work daily within a Secure Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to research, brief, and explain complex operational concepts and designs.
  • Experience in preparing technical papers, system concepts, and capability documents.
  • Experience with providing strategic advice, technical guidance, analysis and recommendations.
  • Familiarity with Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) and related products.
  • Prior experience serving on a headquarters staff for a military Service, Combatant Command, Field/Major Command, or an equivalent high-level organization.
  • Proven experience in the development of Joint- or Service-level strategy, doctrine, or operational concepts.
  • Experience in operations integration, planning, and long-term sustainment of complex systems or capabilities.
  • Familiarity with the DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution System.
