About The Position

Prospective Payment System Coordinator for Northern Dutchess Hospital Rehab Unit. Part-time, 18.75 hours per week, 8-hour shifts. The PPS Coordinator collaborates with the physiatry and hospital staff by case finding and providing pre-admission case summaries for potential admissions. Completes the Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) and ensures accuracy of data submitted to Uniform Data Systems (UDS). Monitors Functional Independence Measures (FIM) scoring for accuracy and ensures that education and certification tests are completed by all disciplines. Oversees multidisciplinary documentation as related to FIM scoring, reimbursement and quality improvements. Analyzes FIM data/reports on a monthly basis and ensures feedback and makes recommendations for improvements and changes. Enhances reimbursement by ensuring accuracy and compliance to regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • NY State Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

  • Partners with the physician to ensure prescreens are accurate & complete for possible admission to rehab unit.
  • Analyzes FIM reports and establishes quality progression to improve performance in relation to the nation and region.
  • Participates in team meetings and leads the team in improvements related to PPS and documentation and FIM.
  • Summarizes team information from weekly team meetings & ensures that all disciplines are represented.
  • Monitors documentation of all discipline to ensure that it captures the burden of care optimize reimbursement.
  • Assists with development & revision of documentation for all disciplines.
  • Provide feedback to staff regarding accuracy of scoring documentation that support scores & reviews.
  • Provides support & education to all disciplines related to FIM documentation & quality issues.
  • Completes the IRF-Patient Assessment instrument and assigns appropriate FIM data based on documentation in the medical record.
  • Works with coder and physician to ensure accurate coding/ICD 10 compliance.
  • Monitors quality findings and enters accurately to IRF-PI and provides feedback to team.
  • Monitors transmission of PPS data to ensure accuracy of information for optimal reimbursement.
  • Assists clinically as necessary.
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
