About The Position

The Deputy County Attorney performs a variety of professional legal duties related to the prosecution and litigation of criminal cases. The successful candidate will manage cases through all stages of the criminal justice process, work closely with law enforcement, victims, witnesses, and community partners, and help ensure the fair and effective administration of justice.

Requirements

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
Sufficient experience to demonstrate the aptitude and ability to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and communication skills.
Must be licensed to practice law in Utah and be a member of the Utah State Bar in good standing.

Responsibilities

Prosecute criminal cases in justice, juvenile, and district courts.
Review law enforcement reports and determine appropriate criminal charges.
Conduct legal research, analyze evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare legal documents.
Represent the State through hearings, trials, sentencing, and appeals.
Work closely with law enforcement and assist with search and arrest warrants.
Communicate with victims, witnesses, law enforcement, and opposing counsel.
Participate in an assigned off-hours rotation to assist law enforcement.
