About The Position

The Program Director is a senior member of the Management Team, working in a leadership role to advance the effectiveness of MHAW's Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) program in concert with, and under the direction of, the Executive Team. This role is embedded within the agency's commitment to excellence in Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Recovery-driven practices, with specific oversight responsibility to guide the program in a manner consistent with the agency's overall mission. The central role of the PROS Director is to hold bottom-line responsibility for clinical and administrative judgment, as well as for developing and enhancing staff abilities in areas including direct service with individuals and groups, service coordination, community integration, supervision, and quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from a qualified, clinical Graduate program in a Behavioral Health/Human Service field.
  • Active NYS licensure in one of the following LPHA disciplines: LMSW/LCSW, LMHC, LCAT, LMFT, LPA.
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-Master’s supervisory experience.
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills, including the ability to model, train, and supervise practitioners in establishing empathic, empowering relationships with people who have experienced psychiatric and substance abuse disabilities and trauma.
  • Strong communication skills with health professionals.
  • Experience with providing clinical and managerial supervision for clinical program staff who deliver direct services and administrative support.
  • Experience with clinical service delivery to individuals with Co-Occurring (MH/SU) challenges.
  • Experience with Treatment/Service planning and record-keeping in a psychiatric rehabilitation, person-centered practice, and recovery-directed framework.
  • Sound knowledge of the Behavioral Health services system (OMH, OASAS).
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and inspire teams to innovate solutions and collaborate to solve complex challenges quickly.
  • Uses sound judgment and data to identify potential problems and works collaboratively with others to achieve improvement.
  • Excellent documentation skills and demonstrated proficiency in use of an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and computer/technology skills.
  • Proficient in the use of current technology: desktop applications, smart phone apps, MS Office 365, Zoom, etc.
  • Understanding and Commitment to Corporate Compliance, as identified in organizational and programmatic protocols, regulatory statutes (local, state, federal), and educational requirements.
  • Candidate must be a reliable self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid New York Driver's License and meets the criteria to be an agency driver.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and facilitate the ongoing development and day-to-day operation of the PROS program, ensuring contracted deliverables are met (program enrollment, utilization, supported housing capacity).
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, procedures, values, and the Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with MHAW's Employee Handbook and written Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with New York State regulations governing PROS operating licenses.
  • Generate and provide regular reports to the Deputy and Executive Directors on program progress and compliance, including enrollment, utilization, critical incidents, and quality assurance.
  • Represent the agency and its programs positively in all external interactions.
  • Continuously develop skills, proficiency, and understanding in areas pertinent to the PROS Director's role, MHAW's practice, and organizational planning.
  • Review and manage Service Dollar Requests.
  • Hold weekly staff meetings.
  • Approve and sign off on timecards.
  • Approve Supply Orders.
  • Review and approve Petty Cash requests.
  • Attend and participate in Corporate Compliance and Utilization/Revenue meetings.
  • Coordinate with other Program Directors within the agency.
  • Ensure each member/participant benefits from a mutually developed rehabilitation plan consistent with regulatory standards and accepted program practice.
  • Make clinical/rehabilitative judgments, including in client crisis situations, regarding the safe, expeditious, and client-driven disposition of individual client services.
  • Attract and effectively engage new clients/members/participants to promote program effectiveness and agency mission.
  • Establish and maintain effective, coordinated working relationships with other providers serving MHAW's members/program participants.
  • Review and sign off on documentation, including Treatment Plans, progress notes, and assessments.
  • Hold monthly Client High Risk Meetings.
  • Hold monthly meetings with clients.
  • Attend and participate in Referral/Admissions meetings.
  • Attend and participate in Clinical Review and Incident Review meetings.
