About The Position

At General Motors, product teams develop vehicles and experiences through a human-centered design process, spanning hardware, battery systems, design, software, safety, and entertainment. The Propulsion System Architect develops new electrified propulsion system architectures and leads a cross-functional team. The role calls for a collaborative engineer who is comfortable working with ambiguity. The position balances propulsion system requirements to optimize the vehicle-integrated system; develops high-fidelity analytical models, initial component designs, and controls for key electrification systems; and works with cross-functional partners to meet performance and cost targets. It leads trade studies, technology development and integration, performance-gap resolution, DFMEA completion, and alignment of requirements and hardware technology with customer expectations. The architect also guides program teams through gates and milestones, benchmarks industries for innovative technologies, and documents new ideas to protect intellectual property. The role is categorized as hybrid. The selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least three times a week, or at another frequency directed by their manager. Relocation benefits are available to candidates who qualify under company policy. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
