About The Position

L3Harris – Missile Solutions is seeking a Propulsion Products Specialist to work at the Canoga Park Facility in California, which produces large and small propulsion components and systems for NASA, Military, and Commercial contracts. The Propulsion Products Specialist is responsible to assemble, repair, and test the mechanical, pneumatic and, plumbing, electrical & instrumentation elements of developmental and production propulsion products per engineering requirements and performance standards. Common hardware includes pneumatic & hydraulic valves, pressure vessels, manifolds, injectors, thrust chambers, wiring harness & cable assemblies, circuitry, thermocouples, strain gauges, and welded line assemblies.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with soldering, lead forming, and potting.
  • Experience installing connectors, connector pins, and electrical sub-components.
  • Experience operating thermal drying chambers and vacuum chambers.
  • Experience operating mass spectrometer leak test equipment & bubble leak tests.
  • Experience with hydraulic & pneumatic leak, proof, and flow tests using controls, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
  • Experience with cryogenic testing.
  • Experience with Single-zone pneumatic pressure proof testing
  • Experience working within FOE-controlled or environmentally controlled clean rooms preferred.
  • Active Security Clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Use hand tools, precision measuring instruments and power equipment, assemble, repair, rework and modify components to required tolerances by hand fitting, aligning, adjusting, lapping, shimming, tapping, drilling and reaming.
  • Assembly tasks include: Safety/lock wiring, O-ring inspection, lubrication, & installation, Torque wrench selection and torquing with manual & digital wrenches, Helicoil installation, extraction, and tang removal, Staking of burst discs and valves in preparation for electron beam welding, Masking & lapping of sealing surfaces, Insulation spot welding, Application of chem. films, epoxys, sealants, Routing & clamping of cable assemblies & wiring harnesses.
  • Operate pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic test equipment to simulate operating conditions and perform tests of propulsion products and components for internal leakage, pressure differentials, load curves, contraction, expansion and flows.
  • Interpret information from paper & computerized planning documents, drawings, specifications, and engineering orders to determine sequence of operations and methods required to assemble, disassemble, install, repair, set-up & test hardware within tolerance and per all engineering & quality requirements.
  • Record information manually or with the aid of a computer based system.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
