About The Position

In Product Strategy we are a team that serves as the trusted compass for DTNA's future commercial vehicle product portfolio. We are in the driver's seat for solidifying the strategy and defining the 'why' for future projects across all vehicle platforms. The Propulsion Product Strategy Manager serves as a strategic owner of Daimler Truck North America’s propulsion portfolio; shaping the long-term direction of propulsion strategies for proprietary and third-party solutions (internal combustion, hybrid, and other alternative propulsion technologies) as well as axles, transmissions and drivelines across On-Highway, Vocational and Medium-Duty platforms. You will work locally and globally translating market signals, customer needs, regulatory requirements, and technology trends into a clear, competitive future product strategy. As a trusted partner to Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, Compliance, Finance, and suppliers, this role ensures the propulsion portfolio remains competitive and future-proofed while navigating industry uncertainty. We Take Care of Our Team What You Drive at DTNA Owns and evolves the strategic propulsion product portfolio and product roadmaps for US/CAN and Export, including: Proprietary and third party heavy- and medium-duty internal combustion engines, transmissions, axles and drivelines. Shapes propulsion strategies using compliance roadmaps, supplier lifecycle plans, and internal technology pipelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience in product strategy, product management, engineering, purchasing, sales, or marketing.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
  • High technical aptitude with the ability to connect engineering concepts to business outcomes.
  • Strong strategic thinking and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and initiatives.
  • Strong communication and executive-level presentation skills for global and OpCom environment.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, complex environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide product-related expertise and strategic vision for assigned truck product(s) and segment(s).
  • Develop short and long-term strategic product roadmaps, product plans, leads and coordinates related product improvement activities.
  • Lead and coordinate activities, product initiatives and projects to optimize the Daimler Truck propulsion product portfolio to support competitive position of ICE (internal combustion engine) products and evaluate alternative propulsion options and timing.
  • Research and analyze market share, sales trends, economic and business indicators and provide competitive product assessments. Make recommendations based on analysis.
  • Understands customer purchase, loyalty and retention drivers for market segments and assigned product responsibilities.
  • Interface with component suppliers to align short-, mid-, and long-term product roadmaps with Daimler Truck priorities. Ensure supplier roadmaps are reflected in enterprise propulsion strategies and improvement initiatives.
  • Leads and coordinates project kick offs as well as project approvals in the Daimler Truck project quality gate system and business case approvals.
  • Develop proposals and recommendations for specific product initiatives based on component supplier actions and internal requirements.
  • Understand new technological developments within the product development pipeline and within the industry so that Daimler Truck can capitalize on the unique opportunities to occupy a leadership position, rather than catching up to a new trend.
  • Stays current on applicable emissions regulations and chairs the Emissions Steering Committee (SteerCo).
  • Leads global and local alignments and project reviews, with Daimler Truck propulsion departments, Engineering, Compliance, Purchasing, Finance and others to align on product changes and initiatives.
