Requirements

  • Two-year technical or business diploma in a related field plus six years related experience; or equivalent as described below.
  • Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
  • Experience in property management, land administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of leasing, property agreements, and land disposition processes.
  • Ability to review and interpret legal survey plans and land title documents.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with documentation, agreements, and record keeping.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g., Surveys Act, Land Titles Act).
  • Knowledge and experience (both field and office) is required to accurately review proposals and cost estimates to perform and complete survey projects by Alberta Land Surveyors.
  • A full understanding of the 3rd System of Survey, the Surveys Act, and the Land Titles Act to know what is involved for project completion and to confidently check for errors on Plan of Survey.
  • Knowledge of Land Titles Procedures Manual to accurately complete documents to be registered.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License (or equivalent) and ability to provide a clear driver abstract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preparing RFPs, evaluating proposals, and managing consultant contracts.
  • Familiarity with government property management practices or public sector processes.
  • Knowledge of appraisal processes and cost estimation.
  • Experience with land inventory systems or related databases.
  • Exposure to Crown land administration.
  • Ability to read or prepare basic plans using tools such as MicroStation (or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in managing, maintaining, and optimizing a diverse portfolio of government‑owned properties while supporting land transactions, legal surveys, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Support the full lifecycle of property management—from inspections and leasing to disposals, acquisitions, and contract coordination.
  • Collaborate with internal partners, external consultants, and government agencies to ensure assets are well managed, legally compliant, and aligned with long term program needs.
  • Conduct property inspections, coordinate maintenance, manage rental rates, oversee leasing activities, and maintain accurate inventories of owned and rented assets.
  • Prepare, monitor, and document leases, caretaker permits, and service agreements for land maintenance and management.
  • Support the disposal of surplus land and improvements, including internal circulation, documentation, public inquiries, and preparation of sale or exchange agreements.
  • Liaise with Alberta Infrastructure, construction managers, and internal leadership to support property decisions, approvals, and communications.
  • Assist with RFP development, proposal evaluation, agreement preparation, survey review, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Prepare RFPs, evaluate proposals, coordinate agreements, and review invoices and project documentation.
  • Review proposed changes for property impacts, update property management manuals, identify property concerns, and provide input on future development.
  • Manage registration, updates, and discharges of Crown land interests; respond to circulations; and coordinate required surveys and plans.
  • Estimate survey and appraisal costs for fiscal planning and projections.
