This is an Extra Help position within the Shasta County Treasurer, Tax Collector, Public Administrator’s Office. Extra help positions are hourly employees that may work up to 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Benefits are not included. The salary range consists of six (6) salary steps, with approximately 5% intervals between each step. The original appointment for new employees begins at the first step of the assigned salary range. New employees are eligible for a merit-based step increase at six months from step A to step B and then annually thereafter from the step B pay period. The Treasurer-Tax Collector office collects property and other tax revenue for County government, County school districts, and various special districts. It is responsible for managing the County's investment program to ensure maximum interest income and adequate cash flow. The Treasurer-Tax Collector also acts as the Public Administrator for the estates of deceased persons for which there is no available or qualified administrator. Property Tax Specialist I: Under close supervision, to learn to perform a variety of specialized detailed clerical procedures and manual labor duties related to the operations of the Treasurer-Tax Collector; learn, interpret, and implement statutory regulations and policy; and to perform related work as required. Property Tax Specialist II: Under general supervision, to perform a variety of more complex clerical duties related to the operations of the Treasurer-Tax Collector; to assist in training of entry level staff; interpret and implement statutory regulations and policy; and to perform related work as required. Property Tax Specialist III: Under minimum supervision, to perform the most complex or uniquely important clerical and support duties related to the operations of the Treasurer-Tax Collector; to work in a lead capacity; to assist in training of staff; interpret and implement statutory regulations and policy; and to perform related work as required.
