About The Position

This position is an integral role within M&T's Property Preservation team that will execute day-to-day functions including managing a presale and conveyance portfolio by, reviewing monthly inspections, reviewing reports, working daily tasks, monitoring insurance claims filed by the claim’s vendor, working closely with Bankruptcy, Foreclosures, Loss Mitigation, CWCOT and Claims Department. Participating in weekly conference calls with the Property Preservation vendors. Review hazard claim repairs, and investor allowable. Oversee the Property Preservation mailbox ensuring that all correspondence is responded to timely. Identifying loans that are not conveyable to HUD and determining an alternative disposition along with a write up to management for review and approval. Refer all files to Real Estate Owned (REO) that cannot be conveyed to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) once approval has been received. Submit bids to team leaders for review and approval. Complete projects related to nonperforming loan sale, due diligence bids for HUD and overdue tasks. Manage a pre-sale and conveyance portfolio, ensuring that deadlines are being met by working closely with the vendor, obtaining status updates and reducing monetary losses. Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A combined 4 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ Mortgage Default and/or Property preservation experience.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Motivated, team player with a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
  • Very strong work ethic and ability to work independently and make decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of departmental software and M&T Bank systems.
  • 5 years’ Mortgage Default and/or property preservation experience.
  • Prior departmental experience preferred.

Responsibilities
