About The Position

Under minimal supervision, the Property Preservation Specialist I is responsible for ordering and reviewing Property Inspection reports, analyzing the property’s condition, and recognizing needed repairs. This role involves ordering appropriate bids to cure the damage and monitoring the repairs through to completion. The Property Preservation Specialist I will orchestrate most of this work through established vendors, monitor their work through completion, follow-up on overdue deliverables, and evaluate their relative performance. These essential functions are fundamental to the role and must be performed on-site, as they cannot physically be performed remotely. The Company has determined that an in-person presence is important to critical components of our work, including oversight, training, collaboration, and productivity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • 1-2 years Single-Family Default Real Estate Servicing experience, direct Property Preservation experience preferred.
  • Ability to analyze pictures and reports to obtain a clear understanding of the actual property condition.
  • Excellence in communication via telephone and written communication.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skill.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and mathematical skills to be used in directing decision-making.
  • Basic understanding of Mortgage lending and servicing.
  • Strong negotiation and follow-up skills, as well as the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Employees are required to have smart phones that meet Company security standards with the ability to install apps such as Microsoft Authenticator.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and reacts to inspection reports.
  • Reviews returned inspection reports for accuracy and completeness when there is deviation from expected norms or when there are other reasons to be suspicious of the report.
  • Updates files to ensure that Shellpoint and the investor have a clear understanding of the condition of the collateral.
  • Assists in the control of expenses related to preservation of the property condition.
  • Arranges for contractual services relating to property inspections, who may be involved in the inspection or evaluation of the property.
  • Assists in managing relationships with and performance of vendors.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the on-going improvement of the Default Support department through sharing ideas and improvements with the team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
