About The Position

Killam Apartment REIT, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada's largest residential real estate investment trusts, owning, operating, and developing a $5.3 billion portfolio of apartments and manufactured home communities. Killam's strategy to drive value and profitability focuses on three priorities: (1) increase earnings from the existing portfolio; (2) expand the portfolio and diversify geographically through accretive acquisitions, targeting newer properties and dispositions of non-core assets; and (3) develop high-quality properties in its core markets. We are currently searching for a dynamic Property Manager who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of multi-residential properties in Toronto and Mississauga with oversight of a portfolio in Cambridge. This position will be based in Mississauga.

Requirements

  • 5 + years of experience in the property management industry, multi-residential experience preferred
  • Completion of a university degree or college diploma program in a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment and contribute to a rapidly growing company
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience with budgeting and financial reporting
  • Work as a team player and on your own with little direction
  • Strong supervisory and dynamic leadership skills
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Yardi property management software will be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the operation of a portfolio of multi-residential properties
  • Oversee staff to ensure properties are well maintained and ensure all maintenance issues are addressed in a timely & cost-effective manner
  • Work with staff to ensure vacant apartments are leased, according to leasing procedures
  • Dealing with the Residential Tenancies Act directly for all tenancy matters
  • Complete annual property operating budget and monthly variance analysis
  • Provide support to/supervise staff associated with the portfolio including assisting in conducting annual performance reviews
