About The Position

The Property Maintenance Technician performs maintenance and repair work across buildings and properties, addressing both routine and nonroutine issues that require troubleshooting and sound judgment. The role adapts repair methods as needed and supports a wide range of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general upkeep tasks to keep the properties safe, functional.

Requirements

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to train and lead staff on projects
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, especially when addressing unexpected or complex maintenance issues.
  • Demonstrated experience with hand tools, power tools and other building maintenance tools and equipment
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Five (5) years professional building maintenance experience in commercial and/or residential properties; must include experience in building systems and components, including basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry principles
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain 30 Hour OSHA Certificate.
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions such as extreme cold and extreme heat, dust, noise, and wetness
  • Ability to perform essential duties with physical demands such as lifting/moving, pushing/pulling, kneeling, climbing, crouching, and reaching
  • Valid driver’s license from state of residence
  • Ability to perform around mechanical hazards, moving objects and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to work as required for emergencies, snow/ice control and special events
  • Selected candidate must successfully complete a background check in accordance with The Mohegan Tribe’s Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Policy (Policy #80)

Responsibilities

  • Keep properties safe and functional.
  • Be available after hours to receive Housing Authority calls.
  • Facilitate necessary work through the approved company call list procedure in case of true emergencies.
