About The Position

The Colonial Inn is seeking a highly organized, proactive and motivated individual with an outgoing personality to perform day-to-day upkeep of our hotel. The Colonial Inn has provided shelter and genuine Maine hospitality for over 130 years. Over the years the inn has expanded, consisting of 62 rooms spread over four buildings, a heated outdoor pool & hot tub, fire pit, lawn games and a beautiful wrap-around porch to enjoy the fresh air and truly relax.

Requirements

• General maintenance experience a must.
• Ability to obtain the Certified Pool Operator certification
• Ability to be on call, work weekends, and work longer shifts as needed.
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools. including but not limited to hammers, saws, drills, wrenches, hoists, etc.
• Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
• Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
• Strong organizational and follow up skills.
• Eye for detail.
• Professional presentation and attitude.
• Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
• Strong time management skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to help guests and staff.

Responsibilities

• Conducting routine inspections and/or repairs of premises and equipment
• Performing preventative maintenance, including but not limited to Cleaning air filters and PTAC units, Room inspections for loose/missing hardware
• Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary
• Repairing and plastering walls and/or ceilings
• Painting indoor and outdoor spaces
• Communicate with housekeeping to resolve any room issues
• Performs the cleaning and maintenance of the pool.
• Weeding, light landscaping, trimming and dead-heading of flowers and plants.
