About The Position

enVision Community Living is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing supports and services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, enabling them to pursue personal growth, development, and live the life of their choosing within the community. The Property Maintenance Assistant is responsible for general building and property maintenance, possessing a broad range of handyperson skills. This role involves identifying maintenance issues, troubleshooting, implementing solutions, and maintaining all enVision Community Living properties, facilities, and grounds. Duties include drywall repair, painting, deck repairs, and routine preventative maintenance, as well as reporting repair needs and maintaining records of materials and progress.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED.
  • Knowledge and skills to perform small home renovations, with the ability to perform small repairs (e.g., caulking, replacing washers, and replacing light fixtures).
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently, with a high level of independent judgment and reasoning skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to create alternative solutions, while demonstrating excellent time management skills.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times, using effective communication skills, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and email.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, with a Clear Vulnerable Sector Search, and clear Child Abuse Registry Check and clear Adult Abuse Registry Check.
  • Valid Manitoba Driver’s License (Minimum 5 Intermediate) and access to a vehicle.
  • Comfortable driving within and outside Steinbach and surrounding areas (Niverville, Ste Anne, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience is considered an asset.
  • A building trades certificate or equivalent is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment repairs and maintenance, including minor construction work such as framing, painting, finishing carpentry, and concrete patching.
  • Troubleshoot, install, and repair plumbing fixtures, piping, and related equipment.
  • Maintain various electrical components, appliances, and equipment in accordance with pertinent codes.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs on mechanical operating systems, including furnace and air conditioning systems, and change filters as needed.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Maintain necessary records, including material purchases, time spent per task, and progress reports.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Perform yard work, general landscaping, and maintain the overall aesthetic appearance of the property.
  • Ensure snow removal and ice safety.
  • Ensure replacement and repair of broken windows, doors, door locks, and closets.
  • Install/replace window blinds.
  • Other duties as may be required.
